Teenage UTP commits suicide in central jail premises
KARACHI: A teenage under-trial prisoner (UTP) allegedly committed suicide in the premises of the Karachi Central Jail on Monday. Police said Mohsin Baloch alias Aslam, 19, son of Dildar, a resident of Mawatch Goth, went to the bathroom of the mosque in the premises of the jail where he hanged himself using the ‘narra’ of his shalwar. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital, Karachi for legal formalities. Karachi Central Jail’s Deputy Superintendent Raja Mumtaz told Daily Times that Baloch was a habitual criminal and was brought to the central jail on November 7 over two separate cases. Two FIRs were registered at the Saeedabad police against him and he was arrested in Naval Colony. The official further said on June 10 this year, the Saeedabad police had brought him to jail in robbery and 13-D cases, but he was released on bail on October 26. Mumtaz further said Baloch’s father had passed away just a day after his release because he was overcome with grief over his son’s activities. staff report
